Uphill/Downhill
If the cyclist is going up an uphill incline, the bicycle’s kinetic energy is converted to gravitational potential energy, requiring the cyclist to convert greater amounts of chemical energy into kinetic energy to cycle up the uphill incline. When the cyclist goes downhill the potential energy is converted to kinetic, thermal, and sound energy allowing for the rider to obtain greater downward speeds.
